Finally! A Buffalo Web/Media Site That Doesn’t Sit On The Fence!

July 31, 2008

The Buffalo News has got my back on this one.  Night Life magazine is so entrenched in their support that I’ve changed my mind on August’s slate of Big Words columns and decided to run a two, three or four parter chronicalling all of the emails regarding Buffalo Rising’s clusterfuck in an effort to reprise the era of Lenny Bruce and the crusade for the First Amendment.  A lot of area musicians, artists, writers and photographers have got my back on this one.  And now, I’m pleased to say, so does WNYMedia.net, another new voice in a small sea of journalistic endeavors afoot in Buffalo.

What I like about this site is that they aren’t huddled in a corner afraid to take chances like Buffalo Rising.  It’s not a watered down, homogenized rag posing as a journalistic empire pumping out sub-rate articles from washed-ups, has-beens, interns and people who, honestly, shouldn’t be in the business and are barely in it now.

I’ve been offered a position with them and a home for my celebrity interviews (the ones that Buffalo Rising was too careless and stupid to use).  I’m going to take them up on it.  The enemy of my enemy is my friend.  After a few days (when the dust settles and the straight jacket restraints are firmly fastened in their upright position around Elena Buscarino), we’re going to talk about making some more Buffalo history.  Feel free to check it out yourself over at:

www.wnymedia.net

You’ll be pleasantly surprised.  And Elena is horrified that they’re stealing all of their good writers (and readers).  Why don’t we make that a reality, shall we?

The drones and the trolls and the shut-ins can continue to read and post regarding beer launches (ad revenue disguised as a feature story), Thursday in the square spin-offs (a sad attempt to keep pace with the Buffalo News) and bike marathon manifestos (worthless, really worthless and boring).  Thrilling.  I don’t see any reason to read that half-assed web site anymore, so why should anyone else?

A friend also informed me that Elena, Newell and the rest of the gang had multiple profile names on Buffalo Rising and often posted comments on their own articles defending their own material.  Wow.   So is that what ‘journalistic integrity’ is, kids?  If that’s the case, shove your integrity straight up your corkscrewed ass.  I wonder how many genuine voices read, react and comment on their little circle jerk of a kangaroo court.  That is truly, truly pathetic.  If you don’t have the guts or the hubris or the balls to post your opinion under your own name, how can you ever in a million years call yourself a real writer?  So very, very embarassing that must be for you Newell (aka Queenseyes) and Elena (whichever three or four names and personalities inhabit your schizophrenic fright show of a psyche).  I’ve got some other deep, embarassing intel about Elena, but I’m going to tuck that away for a rainy day.  Just in case I really need it.  Childhood origins and the like.

It may not sound like it, but I feel vindicated.  This week’s lesson learned had more to do with making sure that ALL Buffalo writers received fair treatment (and ideally, fair pay) rather than tooting my own horn.  If you can’t figure that out, then labotomize yourself with a paring knife and log back on to Buffalo Flaccid Online (better known as Buffalo Rising).  Like a flimsy penis, they retreat (yet again) into obscurity.  Thanks for all the site hits, kids.  I can honestly say that I won’t miss BRO’s childish and upwardly cowardly mind-fucking, which seems to be their only creative outlet since they don’t have anything important to say about much of anything.  Cheers,

Tom Waters (<—–my actual, honest to goodness REAL NAME!)
